Sweet Grape & Litchi Pop

a sunny afternoon drink!

Some drinks just taste like a sunny afternoon. This one pairs the gentle sweetness of litchi with little bursts of juicy, sweet grape. It’s lovely beside the pool, on the patio while the braai gets going, or as an easy treat when friends pop in.

The best part? You can keep it light and refreshing with chilled water, give it a sparkle, or make a jug for everyone to share.

Add a little sparkle: Replace the still water with chilled sparkling water. Stir the syrup into a small splash of water first, then top up gently with sparkling water.

Make it an iced rooibos: Use chilled, lightly brewed rooibos in place of the water. It gives the drink a distinctly South African twist while letting the litchi and grape shine.

Make a braai jug: Multiply the syrup, water and boba by four. Mix the syrup and water in a jug, then add ice. Spoon the boba into individual glasses just before pouring so everyone gets their share of sweet grape pops.
