Method
  1. Cook the Tapioca Pearls as per the instructions HERE.
  2. Brew the Chai Base: Brew your chai tea strong — let the teabag steep in 1/2 cup hot water for 5+ minutes. You want bold flavour! You can, as an option, if you want a stronger spiced flavour, drop the whole star anise into your chai while it brews, instead of simply using the anise as garnish.
  3. Make the Chocolate-Milky Bar Mix: In a small cup or jug, mix the cocoa powder and Milky Bar milk powder with a splash of hot water or hot milk. Stir until smooth, until there are no lumps.
  4. Stir in your brown sugar or honey.
  5. Combine It All: In a serving mug or heatproof glass, add your warm tapioca pearls. Pour in the hot chai tea, then stir in the chocolate-Milky Bar mixture. Top off with hot milk and give it a gentle stir.
  6. Optional Toppings: Dust with the cinnamon or nutmeg, add a swirl of whipped cream, or top with frothed milk for that café-style finish. Place the whole star anise delicately on top of the frothed milk/cream.
