what is a water-based bubble tea?

Bubble tea is a tea-based drink that originated in Taiwan in the early 1980s.

There are two main categories, namely milk-based and water-based bubble teas.

Let's explore what a typical water-based bubble tea consists of...

The basic steps in making a typical water-based bubble tea:

  • Scoop some popping boba or nata de coco jelly into a cup or glass - choose your favourite flavour.
  • Brew your favourite tea or make a unique flavour with one of our ice tea concentrates.
  • Pour in some syrup and add ice. Mix very well. A shaker is a great option.
  • Pour the mixture over the boba or jelly.
  • Stir and enjoy!

the main ingredients of a typical water-based bubble tea:

tea as the base
fruit syrups
  • Our concentrated flavoured syrups are added to your water-based bubble tea drinks as a sweetener and to add a unique fruity flavour.
  • You only need a little bit of syrup to transform your bubble tea.
  • Other sweeteners can also be used such as our simple syrup, honey or even condensed milk, yummy!
the bubbles as the "fun"
  • With water-based bubble tea, you either use popping bobas or nata de coco jelly for the grand finale!
  • Popping bobas are like fruit pockets that burst open when you bite down. Delicious!
  • Nata de coco jelly is a chewy, translucent, jelly-like food produced by the fermentation of coconut water.
  • The pearls or jellies break away from the same boring consistency other drinks have and are what makes bubble tea what it is!
  •
ice
  • Bubble tea is typically served with ice, either poured over last or mixed together with the ice tea mixture in a shaker
